Is my algae eater shedding?

my algae eater is in a small house i got when i got the tank hes being in there for like 1 week already and i got the net and moved the house and the algae eater went out and some kind of shed came out he moves fine i have 2 algae eaters and 1 tiger barb i had another tiger barb died i had 2 other silver dollars and 2 angel fish,1 eel they all died but do algae eaters shed or is the algae eater
