What can I do to get algae out of the pond in my backyard?

There is a large cheek that runs thru our property. By mid summer its full of algae along the coastline.Its NOT pretty. I see other ponds on the golf courses and there's no algae there. I know that it can't grow where there is shade and I have trees where I can but about 20 feet can not be shaded.Any ideas? Oh yes, there are fish in the pond and the pond is man made and about 30-40 deep.
