Emotionally abusive boyfriend?

I just broke up with my emotionally abusive boyfriend. It was a very hard decision, but the insults and constant berating were really starting to destroy me. It's only been a day and I'm already fighting the urge to go back to him. What should I do? I know I must not go back to him but the urge is overwhelming me. I'm so bloody lonely. Please help
